Notice: Schedule shift for 2010 Carolina Region Games Rally (March 13-14, 2010)

There has been a slight schedule shift for the Games Rally from what had been previously announced. The 2010 Carolina Region Games Rally will begin at noon on Saturday, March 13 and will end early afternoon, Sunday, March 14, 2010. This change has been made to help those traveling long distances, to reduce nighttime travel, and to help those trying to avoid missing school or work. The venue is still at Riverbend Equestrian Center in Greenville, SC. Special arrangements can be made for those needing to arrive Friday.

DCs who have kids interested in mounted games are encouraged to contact nearby clubs to form scramble teams if your club doesn't have enough kids to form a full team of 4 or 5 members. The USPC Games Rulebook for 2009 contains a section on starting a mounted games program in your club. This is a great place to begin.

All Walk-Trot Teams will have a C-level member as a barn helper. This C-level member must not be competing in the rally. Walk-Trot teams are permitted helpers in the arena to lead ponies, if necessary, and to help make the experience as enjoyable and successful as possible.

Now is the time for DCs to check with their members to find out about
interest and to see if your club can field a team(s) in any of the following
divisions. If your club doesn't have enough riders for a full team but you
have members who would like to participant, please consider contacting other
DCs to form scramble teams. Information on team formation is in the 2009
Games Rulebook, Section 1, "Article 18 - Team Formation for Qualifying
Rallies", pp. 8-9.

DCs are encouraged to consider forming teams as early as possible to allow
members to practice together before the rally.

Teams consist of 4 or 5 members. The divisions and ages (in a nutshell) are:
WALK-TROT: 9 years of age or less
JUNIOR: 12 years of age or less.
SENIOR: Between 13 and 15 years old. Must be at least a D-3 rating if 13 or
14 years old; must be a C-1 rating if 15 years old.
ADVANCED: Between 16 and 18 years old.

Note: The age is as of January 1, 2010. There are further criteria for teams
to be eligible for USPC Championships. Please see Addendum A of the 2009
Games Rulebook for the details. WALK-TROT division is not a
championship- eligible division. It is permissible in some cases for members
to 'play-up' to a higher division. Please consult Addendum A for details.

The 2009 Games Rulebook with Addendum A along with the 2007 HM Rulebook with
Addendums A,B,C and D will be used for the rally.

Divisions and ages are as follows:
WALK-TROT: 9 years of age or less

Note: The age is as of January 1, 2010. There are further criteria for teams to be eligible for USPC Championships. Please see Addendum A of the 2009
